The Lord still warms our hearts even during the winter season. Through readings from God’s Word, to congregational singing and choir specials, to the teaching of the Bible in Sunday school, to the preaching of God’s Word, to Communion, to Bible study, to various gatherings, to fellowship meal gatherings we have been reminded of the goodness and greatness of God as well as our fellowship with one another in our Lord Jesus Christ. I pray that what was written by the Apostle Paul to the church in Ephesus in the first century will be true of us at First Baptist Church of South Hill, Virginia today – “Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” (Ephesians 3:20-21)
Our current sermon series is from the writings of the Apostle Peter, our Monday night Bible study is “God Alone” which is a study of the five “Solas” from the Reformation and why these biblical truths were important in the sixteenth century and why they are still important for us today. We had our very first 5th Sunday Night Sing in January and it was a wonderful night of praise to God and sharing through music. Our children’s ministry continues with Sunday School and Children’s Church, and we just began a new series in Children’s Church which is based on John Bunyan’s classic book “Pilgrim’s Progress.”
We are pleased to announce that we will have a special Worship Service on February 27th in which His Handmaids, a liturgical worship troupe of young ladies from Central Virginia, will participate in the Worship Service by gracefully and reverently interpreting sacred music with dance and movement.
Let’s continue to pray for each another and encouraging one another in our spiritual walk with our Savior the Lord Jesus Christ. May He be pleased and glorified with all we do at First Baptist Church and may His Spirit work in and through us for the blessing of others and for the pleasure and glory of our good and great God. He alone is God, and He alone is worthy. May He fill you with His joy and peace this winter season and warm your soul.

Grace and peace to you,
Pastor Steve
